History has always been a fascinating
subject for me.
Learning about people- where they
were born, where they lived and what
their occupations were is so
interesting.
Currently, I am a Docent, Emeritus
at the Springfield Museums in
Springfield, MA after many years of
giving tours at the Museum.
These tours centered around the
history of Japan, of Ancient Egypt, of
China and also Art.
While researching the history of the
city of Springfield, MA, I became
interested in my family’s history.
My paternal grandparents lived
and worked in Springfield at the turn of
the 20th century.
This work introduced me to a new
hobby and skill- Genealogy.
Using U.S. Federal Census
Records, vital records (birth/ death),
street directories, maps and newspaper
articles I learned more about my
immigrant grandparents- both paternal
and maternal.
I grew up in Amherst, MA and have been a
resident of Longmeadow, MA for 42+
years.
I’ve learned interesting facts
about the residents of both towns that
lived both before and after the 20th
century.
Longmeadow is my home and I now
enjoy researching and sharing
information about our wonderful New
England town.
